Bakery Product Development:

We are continuously improving our products so you can benefit from the latest in baking technology.

The Watson Difference: To make quality baked goods, it takes more than just quality ingredients. It takes the support of experts in baking technology... fellow bakers. Watson’s technical service department and R& D Labs are run by AIB certified bakers. Following a family tradition of baking, Watson believes that all products must be first tested and aproved in our bake lab prior to shipment to our customers. We provide our customers with on-going support... complete support. Using specialized equipment, like our Instron to measure the softness of breads, we can help our customers make formula adjustments, customize our ingredients to suit these needs and guarantee optimal performance every time. Product development never ends.

Nutritional Product Development:

At the center of Watson’s R&D Laboratory are our Nutritionists and Scientists; some of the foremost in the industry. By utilizing our knowledge and instrumentation in our modern R&D Laboratory, we are able to provide the highest level of support to our customers, from initial concept development through, prototype development and full scale production runs. Stability testing, tableting, dissolution rate, sensory evaluation and research data from our Nutritional R&D Laboratory provide our customers with the information they require during formulation or reformulation of their food, beverage or pharmaceutical products.

The product development, formulation and technical support group consists of a staff of ten, the majority of which have either an MS or Ph.D. in chemistry or food science. The group consists of individuals with fundamental training and applied expertise in human nutrition, protein chemistry, carbohydrate chemistry, surfactant and emulsion technology, enzymology, microbiology and many application specialties such as low net carbs, low calorie, low fat and meal replacement products.

Film Technology

Our research labs are complemented by an additional group of four advanced degreed scientists supporting the product development activity for edible and specialized health care films, a rapidly growing business sector for the company.
