February hosts the national Wear Red Day in support of Go Red for Women! On Friday, February 1st, 2019 Watson employees don their best red get up in support of Heart Disease Awareness. This act is designed to increase heart health awareness and improve the lives of women globally. It’s a giant effort to help women make a commitment to stand together and take charge of their own health. According to the American Heart Association and the Centers for Disease Control heart, related events are the leading killer of women in the US. The American Heart Association’s statistics show a woman dies every 80 seconds from some relation to heart disease and stroke. However, knowing the signs, eating healthier and exercising, could have avoided 80% of these deaths.
Every year Watson tries to find new and creative ways to engage employees in helping us raise money for the American Heart Association. However, last year was so successful with the raffle that we thought we should try it again. Watson’s raffle items consisted of 1 iTunes card, three individual Amazon Cards and a grand prize of a pair of Watson Blue Beatz Headphones. Raffle tickets were sold for $1, and employees were allowed to buy as many tickets as they wanted. This year 78 employees raised $432.00 with the raffle and Watson will match that price for a total of $864 to the American Heart Association!
Congratulations to our Raffle Winners!
Our winners of this year’s raffle were
- Deb Pouchet – $25 iTunes Card
- Mike Preston – $25 Amazon Card
- Linval Whitely – $25 Amazon Card
- Archie Sawmandel – $25 Amazon Card
- Gary Wada – Beatz Headphones
The American Heart Association will still accept donations, and if you would like to make one for the Watson Team there is a Crowdrise page or to learn more about how you can help the cause visit Go Red For women or the American Heart Association for more info!
